Outdoor Floor Mats Built for Industrial Sites
Loading docks, factory entrances, yard walkways and outdoor work platforms take rain, mud, grit, oil and forklift-side foot traffic every day. Clean Power manufactures outdoor floor mats for these conditions in PVC, rubber, modular tiles and aluminum, all produced in our own factory and cut or assembled to your size.

Why Outdoor Industrial Areas Need Dedicated Mats
Most of the dirt, water and debris inside a factory or warehouse is carried in from outside. Outdoor mats at the edge of the building do three jobs:
- Scrape: aggressive surfaces remove mud, gravel, metal chips and snow from boots before workers step inside.
- Drain: open or channelled structures let rain and washdown water pass through so the walking surface stays drier.
- Grip: raised textures and stable backings reduce slips on wet concrete, ramps and steel platforms.
Keeping walking surfaces clean and free of hazards is part of OSHA’s walking-working surfaces standard, and outdoor matting is one of the simplest controls to put in place at doors, docks and walkways.
Types of Outdoor Floor Mats
| Type | Best for | Key strengths |
|---|---|---|
| PVC blade and grid mats | Factory entrances, walkways, workshop doors | Scraping, drainage, UV resistance, easy hose-down cleaning |
| Outdoor rubber floor mats | Wet or oily outdoor work zones, ramps, platforms | Grip in wet and oily conditions, weight that stays in place |
| Modular interlocking tiles | Large or irregular entrances, loading areas | Any size or shape, single damaged tiles can be replaced |
| Aluminum entrance systems | Main staff and visitor entrances | Permanent installation, very high traffic, long service life |
| Spiral grid scraper mats | Secondary doors, covered outdoor entries | Low cost, quick to clean, effective first scraping zone |

Outdoor Rubber Floor Mats vs PVC Mats
Outdoor rubber floor mats are heavy, flexible and grippy, which makes them a good fit for wet, oily outdoor work areas and sloped surfaces where a mat must not move. NBR rubber such as our Sulan mat also resists oils, so it suits areas next to machinery or vehicle bays. PVC outdoor mats are lighter, highly UV resistant and easy to hose down, and their blade or grid structures are designed to scrape and drain. Many sites use both: PVC scraper mats at the outer edge and rubber or modular mats in the working zone.
Where to Use Outdoor Mats on an Industrial Site
Factory and warehouse entrances
Place a scraper or modular mat outside every staff door, followed by indoor wiper matting. Our entrance mats page and the guide to entrance matting systems explain how to size each zone.
Loading docks and yards
Use drainage-friendly PVC or rubber mats where workers step on and off trucks. For dock edges and ramps, choose mats with strong grip and keep forklift routes clear. See our warehouse matting solutions.
Outdoor walkways and platforms
Open-grid and blade mats keep walkways passable in rain. Our drainage mats and interlocking floor mats can cover long runs without gaps. Read more about how drainage mats work.
Outdoor steps
Steps leading to offices and plant buildings are a common slip point. Add matching non-slip stair treads and see our guide to outdoor stair treads.
How to Choose Outdoor Floor Mats
- Start with the contamination: mud and grit need scraping surfaces, standing water needs drainage, oil needs NBR rubber.
- Check the traffic: heavy foot traffic and trolleys call for modular PVC, rubber or aluminum rather than light fiber mats.
- Plan the size: cover the full width of the door or walkway and give workers several steps on the mat.
- Think about cleaning: open structures can be lifted and hosed; modular tiles can be removed one by one.
- Consider visibility: custom colors and logo mats can mark entrances and safety zones.

Cleaning and Maintenance
Hose PVC and rubber mats regularly, lift them to clear debris trapped underneath, and inspect edges for curling. Replace worn modular tiles individually. Our guide to maintaining and cleaning commercial floor mats covers each material.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best outdoor floor mat for industrial use?
For most industrial entrances and walkways, a PVC blade or grid mat that scrapes and drains is the best starting point. Choose NBR rubber where oil is present and aluminum for permanent, very high-traffic main entrances.
Are outdoor rubber floor mats waterproof?
Yes. Rubber does not absorb water, and mats with drainage channels let water run off the walking surface.
Can outdoor mats be made to a custom size?
Yes. We cut mats to size, assemble modular tiles to any layout, and can add custom colors or logos.
Do you supply outdoor mats for distributors and contractors?
Yes. We supply samples, project quantities and private-label packaging directly from our factory.
